During the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, urban tourism expanded quickly in the United States. In the United States, tourism had become a well-established economic and cultural pursuit by the 1850s. Major American cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco have drawn a lot of tourists since the 1890s. By 1915, city tours had caused important changes in the way that Americans thought, behaved, and moved.
